Yes - and it’s one of the most common collections we do.

People often think a scrap car has to be drivable.

It doesn’t.

Whether it’s a flat battery, engine fault, failed MOT, accident damage, or it’s been sat so long the brakes have seized, it can still be collected and scrapped properly.

The only thing that matters is ownership. If it’s your vehicle (or you’ve got the legal right to scrap it), we can take it from there.

Why a non-runner is still worth money

A car’s scrap value mostly comes down to what it’s made of - not whether it runs.

Even a “dead” car is still full of recyclable metal, and there are parts inside that carry value too. Things like:

• The catalytic converter (often the big one)

• Battery

• Alloy wheels (if it’s got them)

• Certain electrical components

• Clean body panels (depending on condition)

So even if it’s not going anywhere under its own power, it can still put money back in your pocket instead of just taking up space.

What affects the price?

• A few basics decide the figure:
• Make/model (some are heavier than others)
• Overall weight
• What’s missing (cat removed, wheels gone, etc.)
• Current scrap prices (they move around)

If you want the most accurate quote, be honest about what’s there and what isn’t - it avoids any back-and-forth on collection day.

How collection works when the car can’t move



This is usually the bit people worry about: “How are you going to get it out if it won’t start?”

That’s literally the job.

For non-runners we turn up with the right kit - recovery flatbed/tilt-and-slide trucks, winch, skates/dollies if needed - and we load it safely. 

Whether it’s stuck on a drive, sat on flat tyres, or hasn’t moved since last winter, we’ve seen it before.

You don’t need to:

• push it to the roadside
• arrange a tow
• pay extra because it won’t start

If access is tight (gated driveway, narrow road, car boxed in), it’s worth mentioning when you book in - it just helps us bring the best vehicle for the job.

What to do before we arrive (quick checklist)

A few small things make the handover smoother:

• Clear your belongings out (boot, glovebox, door pockets - the lot)
• Sort your insurance (cancel or update it once it’s gone)
• Tell the DVLA the vehicle’s been scrapped (important for tax/fines/any future hassle)
• Find the V5C if you’ve got it (it helps, but it’s not always essential)

Keeping a private plate?

If you’ve got a cherished plate you want to keep, do that before the car is scrapped. Once it’s processed and the paperwork’s done, that’s it - you can’t go back and pull the plate off later.

Same-day payment (how it actually works)

Once the vehicle’s collected and the handover is done, we pay by bank transfer the same day.

No waiting around for it to be “weighed later”, no messing about with delays.

And if the details you gave us are accurate, the agreed price is the price you get - the car doesn’t need to start to be paid for.

Can you scrap a car without the V5C?

Usually, yes - but expect a bit more admin.

If you don’t have the logbook, you’ll normally need photo ID and proof you’re the keeper/have the right to scrap it. Having the V5C just makes everything quicker, so if it’s in a drawer somewhere, it’s worth digging out.

When you just want it gone, we’ll get it shifted

If your car won’t start and it’s become a driveway ornament, scrapping it is often the cleanest solution. 

You get the space back, you get paid, and it’s recycled properly through the right channels.
