Benfleet Scrap Co - your local authorised treatment facility

It is a legal requirement for a car to be scrapped at an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) such as Benfleet Scrap Co. ATFs must have a licence issued by the Environment Agency to ensure that vehicles are dismantled and recycled in an environmentally-friendly manner.

We can also provide you with an official DVLA Certificate of Destruction (CoD) so you can be 100% confident that your vehicle has been disposed of correctly and in accordance with the law.

Please note that you can only receive an authentic Certificate of Destruction from an ATF. If you don't get a CoD, you could remain liable for any road tax or traffic offence penalties incurred even after your vehicle is no longer in your possession.

How does it work?

You have two ways of handing your vehicle over to Benfleet Scrap Co:

If the car drives and is still road legal, you may drive it to one of our convenient locations across Essex.
If your vehicle no longer runs or isn't roadworthy, we can come and collect the car - free of charge. Providing your vehicle has four wheels and tyres and is able to be loaded onto our lorry, we can collect and scrap any unwanted car or van.

Don't forget!

Dig out your V5 ownership document, fill in the required fields and send the relevant part to the DVLA to inform them that you are no longer in possession or responsible for the vehicle.

Depending on how many unused months you have on the vehicle, you may also be able to claw back a proportion of your road tax and insurance.
