All you need to do is contact Benfleet Scrap Co for a quotation on how much you will be paid for your car. If you are unable to bring the car to our Basildon scrap depot, we will arrange a convenient time for one of our drivers to collect your vehicle.

As the registered keeper of the vehicle, ideally we would like you to be there when our driver collects your scrap car.

However, we understand that this is not always possible, so we are happy to recover your vehicle without you present. Instead, you can arrange for a friend, family member or neighbour to assist our driver on your behalf.

How long will it take to collect my car for scrap?

It should only take a matter of minutes to recover your scrap car. However, this will depend on where it is and how easy or difficult it is for our driver to safely load it onto our recovery vehicle.

What do I – or the person who will be present during collection – need?

When it comes to collecting your car for scrap in Basildon, ideally we need the vehicle's V5C (log book) and keys.

If you don't have either of these, unfortunately we are unable to scrap your car.

However, if you have lost your keys but have the V5C, we can scrap your car.

Similarly, if you have your keys but can't find your log book, we can scrap your car. In this case, we would need to provide alternative proof of ownership – either a SORN document or tax reminder dated within the last three months.

The person present will need to provide us with relevant identification.

Ideally this should be a photo driving licence but if this is not available, we accept an in-date passport AND utility bill with address dated within the last three months.

How will I be paid if I choose to scrap my car collection Basildon?

When collecting a vehicle for scrap, Benfleet Scrap Co can pay you in two different ways – cheque or cash.

If paying by cheque, legally, this needs to be made out to the person our driver meets at you car.

If you are unable to be there, the cheque will be made out to your friend, relative or neighbour.

If you would like cheque to be the method of payment for scrap call collection in Basildon, this needs to be pre-arranged.

If you would like to be paid in cash, this is only possible if the vehicle to be scrapped holds a valid MOT certificate.
